The tunnel and railway bridge form the connection between the old, medieval part of the historic city and an industrial redevelopment area. The passway was perceived as a desolate, dreary area. The challenge was to create an open, inviting entry to the other side.
This is achieved by a dynamic lighting concept. The base colour follows the persons walking or biking by. Luring trespassers to pass through the tunnel. Lighting the curved ceiling creates the impression of a much higher opening by the reflection of the water.
